Elusive Skin (memory of autumn 2001) I watched the June sunlight dance upon the crests of your
cheeks, and now, as October twilight surpasses a hazy afternoon and
dwindles into a sultry eve, the thoughts of your sun-kissed expression
cast a tender glow upon my darkened world...and my fluttering heart.
You had smiled at me, I remember, and I barely noticed the slightest,
loveliest tremble in your bottom lip. Not even in the sweetest, most
vivid of dreams I've been so utterly enchanted. I had attempted to catch
my reflection in your eyes. I was curious of the soul that dwelled behind
them...but you looked away too soon. The days between then and tonight
are too many. You passed like a golden leaf on Autumn's wings, my fantasy
wrapped in elusive skin and trembling twilight. |
